Cleaning  Log or Log Cabin

We get asked this question many times what can I do to help prevent my house from getting this way.

I usually say do you wash your car? Of course I do they say. But have you ever cleaned your most expensive asset? No I never thought of that.

There  are several things you can do such as chemically clean your log home or log cabin, but you can even get out a hose and rinse it off or use a pressure washer with less than 500lbs of direct pressure to wash it off. this prevent dirt, pollen, bug droppings, and other debris. This stuff all help break down your finish faster.

Chemically Cleaning

You can get your garden sprayer out and mix about 4oz of TSP with about 1 gallon of hot water to dissolve it . Them mix up the rest of your 3 gallon sprayer with 1 more gallon of bleach and the remainder with water. then mix well. After mixing wet down the area you area cleaning well and evenly. then go ahead and spray down the area evenly to prevent streaking. Let sit on the surface for 10-15 minutes depending on the temp and how fast its drying. Keep the wall wet you don't want to let the bleach and chemicals to dry on the wall. if you have to keep misting water on the wall. more bleach maybe needed due to the condition of your walls or surfaces to get mold off. You should rinse thoroughly and maybe rinse a second time to clean better or this you get clear water running from the surface. I f refinishing you should let dry well due to temp it could be hours to 48 hours.
